Man Found Dead on Argentine Coast After Sea Tragedy

A 41-year-old man was found dead after going missing at sea in the seaside town of Santa Teresita. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the victim, identified as Mariano Aredondo, dove into the sea on Wednesday with his girlfriend, and both began to drown after being swept away by the current. The woman was rescued by lifeguards, but the man was not found, prompting the Civil Defense and the Argentine Naval Prefecture to begin an emergency search. Officers from the Buenos Aires Police's Immediate Operations Tactical Unit (UOTI), prefects, and the Drones Division found the body lifeless at street 50 and the coast of Las Toninas. Prosecutor Pablo Gamaleri of UFID No. 11 intervened in the case, ordering an autopsy and the presence of the Scientific Police at the scene. Aredondo was a baker, lived in the Buenos Aires Aires district of Avellaneda, and was on vacation on the coast.
